The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, has apologised to its customers in Anambra and Imo over recent lingering power outage and its inconveniences.
It explained that the prolonged outage was as a result of a one-day routine maintenance on the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) station in Awka, Anambra state which was scheduled to hold on the 18th of January, 2018 but has lingered for unforeseen reasons.
The Head Communications of EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, said this in a statement to journalists yesterday.
Ezeh noted that the company had instructed engineers of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to fix the problem within the earliest possible time.
He expressed regrets over any inconvenience the development must have caused businesses and livelihoods of their esteemed customers in these localities.
“In view of the power outage currently experienced at our Agu, Awka Injection Sub-station, which feeds Awka and other neighbouring towns.
“The management of EEDC sincerely apologise to its esteemed customers affected by this development, which is as a result of a breaker fault at the TCN Station in Awka.
“This development affected the following Feeders: Unizik 11KV; Awka Industrial 11KV; Ifite 11KV; Amansi 11KV.
“And 33KV line; which takes supply from Agu Awka Injection Sub-station to Enugu-Ukwu Injection Sub-station that feeds to Abagana 11KV, Nimo 11KV, Ukpo 11KV and Enugu-Ukwu 11KV Feeders.
“In addition, the Enugu-Agidi 2.5MVA which radiates from Enugu-Ukwu 33KV line, supplying Enugu-Ukwu and 33KV line from Agu-Awka Injection Sub-station supplying Aguleri town are also affected.
“EEDC management wishes to inform its esteemed customers in Imo State that the current loss of supply being experienced in some localities in the state was due to an ongoing maintenance work on TR2 power transformer at TCN station in Egbu near Owerri’’, he said.
Ezeh noted that the maintenance, which commenced on Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. was expected to end at 4 p.m. same day, but unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances it had lingered.
“The customers affected by this development are: All customers under Orlu District; All customers under New Owerri District; All Customers under Owerri District (excluding those on Ikenegbu, Egbu and FUT 11KV Feeders),’’ he said.
According to him, the TCN Engineers were working hard to restore supply to our 33KV and 11KV Feeders in the affected districts in Imo State.
“Normal supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance is completed in these localities,’’ he assured.
