The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission,EDSIEC, has cancelled elections in Oredo and Ikpoba Okha Local Government.
This follows unavailability of electoral materials in the areas.
A statement issued by the EDSIEC Chairman, Solomon Ogor, said the action became necessary to avoid controversies and litigations.
Ogor said, eligible voters across the state had turned out to cast their votes for the 18 chairmanship and 192 councillorship candidates from the six political parties that took part in the polls.
He noted that in ward 2, Aibiokuna in Orhionwon local government area of Edo South, voting materials arrived at about 10.30am as Electoral officials, Returning officers, and Supervisors were observed sorting out the materials for onward distribution to other wards and units.
Speaking on the conduct of the process, Edo state Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu, admitted late arrival of materials in some areas, but said it was generally a well-conducted exercise.
