Edo governorship election to hold September 10

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the guidelines and timetable for the governorship election holding in Edo State, which it scheduled for September 10, 2016.

The new Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Edo State, Mr. Sam Olumekun, listed the guidelines yesterday in Benin, the Edo State capital.

According to him, party primaries will hold as from 2nd June to the 4th of July, 2016; campaigns will commence on Sunday, 10th of June, 2016, while the official register of voters for the election will be published on the 11th August, 2016.

Olumekun stressed that the election proper will take place on the 10th of September this year.
