The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo South Senatorial District, on Friday accused the Edo State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, of making mockery of proceedings of the on-going Election Petition Tribunal.
The ruling party said the PDP is seeking to create a drama over a ‘fictionalized’ evasion of court service by the APC and the governor-elect, Godwin Obaseki.
Speaking at a press briefing, the leader, Oteghe Adams slated Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the PDP and his party for the incessant campaign of denigration and vicious attack on the will of the electorate since September 28.
The Edo state PDP had accused the governor- elect, Godwin Obaseki, of evading court services by going into hiding since the party filed petition at the State Election Petitions Tribunal challenging his victory at last month’s governorship election.
The PDP also slammed the APC for allegedly closing down its state party secretariat and barring security agents and officials of the party from coming to office.
Adams said “The recent unfortunate drama about the purported ‘evasion’ of court summons created by the PDP was nothing but the figment of the sick imagination of the party.
“The PDP tried through the Ize-Iyamu and Dan Orbih – selected puppet, Chris Nehikhare, to suggest that the APC and the Governor – elect were evading the service of court summons.
“The fabrication of such a bizarre and reckless tale completely exposes the mendacious mind set of the failed factional PDP governorship candidate in the on-going contrived protestation before the Election Tribunal.
“All evidence from local to global independent agencies affirmatively point to a non-violent, free and fair elections by Edo voters on Sept 28th.
“Having woefully lost the diabolical game plan that Ize-Iyamu’s PDP faction scripted for September 28th, the defeated candidate is now using an otherwise sacrosanct proceeding of the Election Tribunal for shameless theatrics.
“As someone who professes to be a barrister, it would have been expected that Ize-Iyamu would know the proper proceeding by which people are summoned for judicial appearances.
“Rather, the PDP flag bearer simply wants to continuously sow the seeds of confusion in the minds of Edo people by giving the impression that the APC and the Governor-elect were ‘’evading’’ service to comply with the proceedings of the tribunal.
“Evidently, Ize-Iyamu neither has respect for judicial proceedings nor for the voice of the people. Ize-Iyamu could have complied the elementary practices of due diligence by ensuring that the bailiffs of the summons duly contacted and checked the relevant offices of the APC and the so many well-known addresses of the Governor-elect to ensure proper service.”
