Ebuehi’s parents have promised he will honour next Super Eagles call-up – Rohr

Nigeria’s Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has revealed that he has received a promise from Tyronne Ebuehi’s parents, that the player will honour the next Super Eagles’ invitation he gets.

Ebuehi turned down his first chance to represent Nigeria. He was also called up for last month’s 2018 World Cup qualifier, but later rejected the invitation.

“The parents told me he will come for the first selections when we invite him again,” Rohr said.

“The player from Holland told me yes, but in the last moment he told me no.”

Ebuehi explained in an interview with his club’s official website, why he is not ready to feature for the Super Eagles yet.

“I don’t think I’m there yet, there is still a lot to improve in my game. Defensively I have improved a lot but I need the offensive discipline of modern full backs. I have to work on that. I’m sometimes afraid to go forward,” he said.

“I am working every day to improve that aspect of my game. For example I have been working on my crosses.”

He however made it clear he would love to pull on the green and white of Nigeria in the future, as it is the wish of his father.

“My father is always the first to criticise me when I’m not playing well and also the first to praise me if I do well. He sees almost everything about me and tells me the way it is,” Ebuehi added.

“He gives me constructive criticism so that I can progress, he wants the best for me. I dare say my father is the most important person in my life.”
