Ebonyi State University expels 33 students, 88 others suspended for gross misconduct

About thirty-three students of Ebonyi State University, EBSU have been expelled while eighty-eight others have been suspended by the school authorities over an alleged misconduct, examination malpractices and admission racketeering.

In a statement signed by the institution’s Registrar and Secretary to the Senate, Mr. Egwu Sam, it was disclosed that the Senate of the institution had at its 22nd emergency meeting, held on Thursday, August 23rd, 2012, decided to make public the offences of all the affected students.

He further explained that the suspension and expulsion of the students was in accordance with the institution’s rules and regulations.

He said, “The suspended students for the stipulated period are to fail their examination and in addition should also stay away from the university for the period of the suspension and apply to the Registrar for re- admission when their suspension tenure elapses.”

Mr Sam however assured that the suspended students will fail all their examination during the period of their suspension and would have to register and retake all their courses when they resume back.
