The Ebonyi Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of a commercial tricycle operator and three others for their alleged involvement in kidnapping.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP George Okafor, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the culprits (names withheld) had kidnapped one Mr Nwele Onuwabuchi, a telephone repairer.
According to him, his officers laid ambush for the kidnappers and rescued the victim on June 7, at the point of receiving the ransom demanded from the victim’s family.
He said Investigations into the matter had commenced, adding that the culprits would face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.
“The command reiterates its zero tolerance for kidnapping and other forms of heinous crimes; citizens are enjoined to supply us with relevant information,” he said. (NAN)
