The political crisis rocking Ebonyi State took a turn for the worst on Friday, as the State House of Assembly served an impeachment notice on Governor Martin Elechi.
There has been intense power tussle between two political forces in the State- one under the control of SGF, Anyim Pius Anyim and the other controlled by Governor Elechi.
However, in a clear move to oust Elechi before the general elections, the lawmakers commenced the impeachment proceedings, hinting their reason on what they termed ‘acts of gross misconduct’ by the Governor.
Acting leader of the House, Hon. Francis Nwifruru, who read the notice at the plenary, accused Elechi of financial misappropriation, undermining of the integrity of the House, among other strong offences.
The motion for Elechi to be served the notice was moved by Hon. Odefa Obasi Odefa and seconded by Hon. Valentine Okike
