Ebonyi elections: Umahi accuses APC guber candidate, Ogborji of planning to import thugs to disrupt

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, who is seeking reelection on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday, accused the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Sunny Ogbuorji, of planning to import thugs into the state to disrupt elections.

Umahi made this known in a live broadcast that took place at the state council Chambers, Government House Abakaliki.

He urged him (Ogbuoji) to join other 26 governorship candidates of various political parties, who step down for him (Umahi) last week to avert bloodshed of innocent Ebonyians in the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections, scheduled to take place next Saturday.

“If the security agencies are impartial, there will be no violence and destruction of lives and property in the coming Saturday’s election.

“I was informed that my brother, Sunny Ogbuorji is planning to import thugs to destabilize the election, to kill people so that the election will be cancelled.

“There must be no undo cancellation of election results in the wards and I condemn any act of violence against any INEC officials in the state” he stated.

In a swift reaction, the governorship candidate of APC, Sunny Ogbuorji, who spoke through his campaign director general, Senator Antony Agbo, said his party has no such time to engage in a war of words with him (Umahi).
