The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has condemned majority of the Commissioners appointed by the state governor, Chief Dave Umahi, claiming they are incompetent and lazy.
The Speaker, Hon. Francis Nwifuru made this known on Tuesday at the House Committee’s report on Public Account for the non-audition of account in the state since 2013.
Nwifuru accused majority of the Commissioners of being ineffectual, lazy and not performing.
He said, “Apart from the Commissioner of Works and Transport, Engr. Mr. Fidelis Nweze and his Power Counterpart, Chief Emma Uguru, other Commissioners are not performing.”
The Speaker blamed the lawmakers for the poor performances of the Commissioners due to their inability to carry out their oversight functions effectively.
He, however, directed that all Commissioners in Umahi’s administration be investigated.
“In the ministry, you the lawmakers are the Chairmen. The Commissioner is like your secretary and that’s why if you invite them, they will come and explain to you what they are doing because you appropriate the funds they are using,” the Speaker noted.
