Two more people from Markudi, Benue state have died from the excessive consumption of salt.
DailyPost recalls that less than a week ago, two people died while twenty were hospitalized after excessive consumption of salt to prevent being infected with the deadly Ebola virus.
Dr. Joseph Kumba, Director, Public Health in the Ministry of Health and Human Services announced this on Wednesday.
He said, “We got the report at a meeting today (Wednesday 13th August) that two persons (a male and a female) died at Ushakaa clinic as a result of drinking and bathing with hot salted water.”
The Medical Director of Ushakaa Hospital, Dr. Innocent Gbillah did not disclose the names of the deceased but said they were admitted into the hospital on Saturday.
“He said they did everything possible to help the victims but to no avail. One of them died on Tuesday at 7 pm while the other gave up the ghost at 5 am Wednesday (yesterday),” he said.
