Another Sierra Leonian most senior doctor has fallen victim of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
The late Doctor, Victor Willoughby is the 11th doctor to have died of the EVD; a health official has said.
According to Brima Kargbo, the country’s Chief Medical Officer, the deceased was tested positive to the virus and passed away on Thursday.
Other medical practitioners sheared their sadness by narrating how inspiring the deceased was to the entire medical body in the country. They said the death of the late doctor was a great loss to them and the entire medical profession in the country.
Dr. Willoughby passed away shortly after an experimental drugs arrived the country for his treatment.
Kargbo, the chief medical officer had hoped that the arrival of the ZMAB developed from Canada would have increase the deceased chances of survival, but he died before the drugs were put into use on him.
Ebola has infected more than 18,600 people, the vast majority in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia. Of those infected, more than 6,900 have died.
The Late Doctor died at the age of 67.
