The River State government has assured the people of Oduoha in Emohua Local Government area of their safety over the citing of a proposed quarantine centre in the community.
The Commissioner for Health, Sampson Parker gave the assurance after a group of people from Oduoha protested against the Ebola isolation centre.
The protesters shut the site until the Commissioner intervened and assured them that the Ministry will dialogue with members of the community to salvage the situation.
“We are taking all precautionary measures to make sure that everyone in the community is protected and whatever their fears are will be assuaged.
“We chose the health centre because it is one health centre that is kept away from the community. Whatever needs the community may have we will take care of it.
“As for their fears, all we need do is to go there and discuss with them”, Parker said.
He also warned against making the citing of the centre a political issue, adding that politicians in the state should stop politicizing every move of the Rivers State government.
