President of the Nigeria KungFu Federation, Engr. Tunji Ariyomo has advised the federal government and all states of the federation to declare a compulsory 2-week national holiday for all non-essential or critical services to minimize the spread of the deadly Ebola virus from one person to another.

Ariyomo made the call in his opening speech at the 2014 Conference of Coaches and Judges of Wushu KungFu, which took place Thursday in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

“This could help limit public exposure and interactions, thereby inhibiting the chances of the virus being spread to others as a tactical containment measure”, he said.

On the lingering insurgency mounted by the Boko Haram group, the KungFu boss advocated vigilance, adding that learning self defense was a way of protecting individuals.

According to him, “While it may be dangerous and foolhardy to confront a man with improvised explosive devices, vigilance may help spot such from afar so that the concerned members of the authority could be promptly alerted.

“Teaching members of the public self-defense can equip them and help them acquire life saving skills that may come handy in disabling attackers of any kind”.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2014 event, who is the Technical Director of the Nigeria KungFu Federation, S.P. Michael O. Oladehinde, expressed his happiness at the large turn out of participants and the growing enthusiasm displayed.

Others at the event were the Secretary of the KungFu Federation of Nigeria, Mrs. Evelyn Fabunmi and the Special Adviser on Data Management to the government of Ekiti State, Mr. Bamise Jegede.
