The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has asked the Minister of Education, Mr Ibrahim Shekarau, to review the directive given to schools over their resumption following the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Onyebuchi Chukwu, made this known while updating journalists on the Federal Government’s handling of the Ebola Virus Disease.

He said resumption of schools, earlier fixed for October 13, may be moved back to September as the Federal Government had put in place precautionary measures to check the spread of the virus.

He said that the Minister of Education would meet with all education commissioners in the country to arrive at a resumption date to be announced after the meeting.

Dr. Chukwu also dispelled rumours of the spread of the disease to Zaria, Abuja, Edo and Calabar, saying that only two cases of Ebola Virus Disease remained in the country, with one in Lagos and the other in Port Harcourt.
