The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has said that about 3000 personnel would be deployed to various strategic areas in the state to ensure crime free Easter c#’elebration.
NSCDC State Commander, Mr. John Adewoye stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Friday by the Command’s Public Relation Officer, Mr. Oluwole Olusegun.
According to the NSCDC Commander while addressing the command’s weekly meeting on Security assessment and preparation towards Easter Celebration held at the command’s headquarter’s Old Nitel Building, Agodi, Ibadan, the deployed 3000 Corps are to cover all the thirty-three(33) Local Government and thirty-five(35) LCDA’s of the state.
Commandant Adewole maintained that, “the deployment of the personnel to the strategic positions in the State is in line with the directive from the Commandant General Alhaji Abdulahi Gana in respect of the long Easter Holiday.”
The Commandant added that he had also ordered, “4 Area Commanders and 39 Divisional Officers to be more proactive throughout the celebration by positioning their personnel at all the sensitive areas such as Churches, Parks, Playing ground, Recreation Centers and all Federal Government Infrastructures including NNPC right ways.
“The personnel that will be on duty during the Easter Celebration will comprise of those in counter Terrorist Unit, Disaster Management Unit, Anti Vandals and others on Stationary and vehicular patrol throughout the period of Celebration across the state”.
Adewoye however urged the people of Oyo state to at all times be ready to “volunteer information to Nigeria Security and Civil Defend corps by calling the control room numbers on 0905553301, 09055533303 or call the attention of other sisters agencies if they suspect any strange movement around them.”
