Easter: NSCDC deploys 2,500 personnel in Oyo, promises adequate security

The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Monday, said it has deployed no fewer than 2,500 personnel to maintain law and order throughout the Easter period in the state.

The command made this disclosure via a statement signed by Mr. Oluwole Olusegun, a copy, which was made available to DAILY POST.

The statement assured residents of the state adequate security during and after the Easter celebrations.

The statement said, “Security of live and properties of the citizens of Oyo State is not negotiable. 2,500 personnel are deployed to maintain law and order throughout the Easter period in the state.

“Oyo state commandant of Nigeria security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Dr. John Adewoye today during the evaluation of first quarter security reports of all Area commands and Divisions in the state.

“The state commandant made it known to the heads of all departments and area commanders that Christians worldwide will be celebrating the Easter between 19th of April to 22nd to mark the end of the lenten season.

“Adewoye advised the public to be vigilant and to report any unusual movement or gathering in their environments during the festive period to the Nigeria security and civil Defence corps and other security agencies in the state.

“The commandant John Adewoye has ordered the 33 divisional officers and 35 LCDA’s DO’s to be more proactive throughout the celebration by deploying their personnel at all the sensitive areas such as churches, parks, playing ground, recreation centers and all federal government infrastructures including NNPC right of ways.

“He urged Nigerians irrespective of their religion to be law abiding during the Easter celebrations and beyond, he also enjoined Christain faithfuls to reflect on essence of death, lesson of passion, suffering, forgiveness, love of Christ and resurrection of Christ learnt during the lenten season also pray for peace in our nation and successful transition of power to incoming government in Oyo state on May 29.

“Commandant Adewoye admonished the general public to always give adequate and timely information to the Nigeria security and civil Defence corps by calling the control rooms 09055565033, 09055565020, 07089419444.”
