Eaglets’ bonus doubled ahead of crucial tie with Congo

Nigeria have doubled the win bonus of the Eaglets to beat Congo on Saturday and qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup.

The Eaglets will now receive $1,000 as their win bonus as against $500, according to head of competitions at the NFF Sanusi Mohammed.

“We have increased the winning bonus of the boys to motivate them more for victory against Congo. Their bonus is now $1,000 from $500. Their daily allowance is now $100 from $50,” Mohammed disclosed.

Nigeria will battle Congo in their last group match of the CAF U17 Championship in Morocco to secure a place in the semi-final as well as book a ticket to FIFA U17 World Cup in the UAE.

The Eaglets failed to beat Cote d’Ivoire in their second group game after thrashing competition favourites Ghana 6-1.

The Nigerians must get at least a draw against Congo on Saturday to confirm their qualification.

All the four teams have a chance to make it to the next round of the competition.

Cote d’Ivoire lead Group B with four points, followed by Nigeria with three points. Congo are on two points, while Ghana are bottom with a point.
