Dwindling economy: Nigeria’s ordeals will turn to blessing – Ugwuanyi


Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has assured Nigerians that the present economic hardship in the country will eventually turn to a blessing through the favour of God.

The Governor gave the assurance in Ede-Oballa, Nsukka Local Government Area of the State at the grand reception organized by the people of the community in honour of the immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Chief Vita Abba.

Gov. Ugwuany, who commended Chief Abba for his selfless service to the Party and the State at large, noted with regret that the present leaders in the country are facing a lot of challenges due to the negative development in the oil sector, stressing that “before now, the story was Excess Crude Oil, but today it is Bailout fund”.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to step-up development in the three senatorial districts of the state in spite of the harsh economic situation in the country.

The governor called on the people of the state to continue to offer special prayers for his administration and the country, saying that what the nation is passing through will eventually be a thing of the past.

Ugwuanyi thanked members of the party for their prayers, support and goodwill, and also applauded the people of Ede Oballa for honouring their son, Chief Abba. He noted that the honour done on the former State Party Chairman was done to all the people of Nsukka zone who appreciate his successful and peaceful tenure.

In an address presented by Chief Sylvanus Asogwa on behalf of the Ede-Oballa and Edenu Ede-Oballa Town Unions, the people of the community said that they honoured Chief Abba in recognition of his meritorious service and salient contributions to humanity, his community, the state and Nigeria at large, emphasizing that Abba rendered selfless service and brought great fortunes to the PDP.

Also speaking, the Senator, representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Senator Chukwuma Utazi said that the former Party Chairman deserved the honour and dedicated himself to the service of the party and State through his tireless efforts that ensured, peace, unity and success.

Chief Abba, who was conferred with the Chieftaincy Title of Onwa of Nsukka Zone by the Enugu North Council of Traditional Rulers in appreciation of his outstanding contributions to the state, thanked his people, the governor and other guests for their solidarity and support, assuring them that he will continue on the path of selfless service to humanity.
