The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Tony Ezimakor, the Independent Newspapers’ Abuja Bureau Chief.

Ezimakor had walked into DSS headquarters in Abuja about 10.30am on Wednesday to honour an invitation, but nothing had been heard from him since.

According to the management, what they could confirm was that as at 10pm on Wednesday, Ezimakor had not been questioned about anything.

He was moved from one office to the other, and was asked to wait for a particular officer who had been away from his office.

Douglas Ekhator, the Independent Newspapers’ lawyer, sent to assist Ezimakor was not allowed to see him even as late as 10pm.

Ezimakor, said to have been taking drugs to control his high blood pressure, does not have access to his prescribed medication.

His wife said her husband left his medication at home and did not eat any food before leaving home yesterday.

Meanwhile, the DSS has not explained the reason for his detention.
