Operatives of the Department of Security Service (DSS) have arrested a retired military officer for an alleged attempt to create a political crisis in Kano State.

The retired Captain of the Nigerian Army, whose name is yet to be released, has confessed that he was allegedly conscripted by a former Commissioner of Water Resources in the State, Dr Adanu Yunusa Dangwani to make Kano ungovernable.

He said he was allegedly paid a sum of N1.5 million part payment.

PRNigeria reports that the retired captain was whisked to Abuja for further interrogation, while the commissioner was allegedly intercepted at the airport on his way to a foreign country.

The former Commissioner, who was also Chief of Staff to former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was in March 2016 arrested by Police in Kano over alleged move to hold a mass political rally against the government of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano but was later released.

Attempt to reach officials of DSS in Kano and Abuja were not successful.
