The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Friday, dismissed claims of being sponsored by the former national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sir Victor Umeh.

The APGA chieftain, who was picked up at Awka, Anambra State, from where he was taken to the DSS headquarters, Abuja, is being accused of sponsoring pro-Biafra groups.

However, in a statement made available to DAILY POST by IPOB’s Media and Publicity director, Emma Powerful, he said the group was self sponsored.

“IPOB has no sponsor anywhere around the world. It is a big organisation pursuing the restoration of Biafra; one man or few people cannot sponsor us.

“Linking Umeh or suspecting any other Igbo politician is a ploy to deny him his mandate to become a Senator.

“IPOB members sponsor themselves through monthly contributions and levies worldwide; one man lacks enough money to sponsor gigantic organization like IPOB. “We equally state that those saying that IPOB is delaying Nnamdi Kanu’s release are lying because they don’t know how IPOB operates”, he said in the statement.
