Just a few days after Galatasaray announced that Didier Drogba was joining the Turkish club, his Chinese team Shanghai Shenhua, have insisted that the Ivorian striker is still contracted to them.
Galatasaray said Drogba’s €6 million transfer was complete and he had signed a deal that will run till 2004. However, Shenhua say they have no idea about the move.
“The club is deeply shocked. Drogba is still a Shanghai Shenhua Football Club member as the contract between the two parties is still within its period of validity,” a statement released on Shenhua’s official website read.
“The Shanghai Shenhua Football Club is ready to gather evidence and submit the findings to FIFA in order to protect its interests.”
Drogba joined the Chinese club last summer from Chelsea on a reported wage of £200,000-a-week. Nicolas Anelka has already left Shenhua for Juventus on loan.
