Chelsea legends, Didier Drogba and Michael Essien, on Thursday, reacted after the Blues appointed Frank Lampard as the club’s new manager.
Drogba and Essien, who played with Lampard during their time at Chelsea, took to their Instagram handles to wish the 41-year-old ‘good luck’ after returning back to Stamford Bridge.
Drogba wrote: “Good luck, proud to see you coming back home @franklampard #Repost @chelseafc with @get_repost ・・・ How does it feel to see him back, Chelsea fans? You’ll want the sound for this! #WelcomeHomeFrank #CFC #Chelsea.”
On his part, Essien said: “Proud to see you coming back home @franklampard, Good luck and all the best @chelseafc. Come On Blues.”
DAILY POST had reported that Lampard on Thursday signed a three-year deal with Chelsea worth £4million-a-year with hefty bonuses, especially for getting into the UEFA Champions League.
The ex-midfield maestro replaced Maurizio Sarri, who has since left to take over at Juventus, after spending only one season at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after his appointment, Lampard told Chelsea’s official website: “I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach. Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared.”
