The protesting drivers stressed that robbery cases were frequent on the road, insisting that the protest will continue until the state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola addresses them.

Sanya noted that the angry protesters drove away the policemen drafted to the area to restore normalcy and have demanded to see the commissioner of police.

Sanya affrimed, ” We are close to 1000 vehicles trapped in the traffic snarl now. I have been here for over two hours and there is no exit road to take. We are stuck in the mess.

“Many newspapers delivery vans are here before dawn and there is no way anybody can escape except the road is cleared.”

The gridlock caused by the angry protesters is said to be causing hardship for other road users.

The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kola Sodipo while confirming the incident noted that he has dispatched his men to the scene of the incident.
