A mild drama reportedly played out on Tuesday at an Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin, Edo State, as an 18-year-old suspect, Abudullahi Muhammed, defecated on his body.

According to reports, when Muhammed’s case was about to be called, he defecated on his body and in the resulting commotion, he took to his heels.

The Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Aigbochie Iruonagbe, reportedly called for help from other policemen to chase down and apprehend the accused.

The policemen were said to have given Muhammed sachets of water to clean up before he was arraigned again.

The prosecutor, Inspector Thomas Ojo, told the court that the accused is facing a one count charge of theft for stealing four cartons of powdered milk from one Mrs. Favour Nawachukwu.

He said the accused committed the offence on October 8 at Mission Road, Benin.

According to Ojo, the act is punishable under Section 390 (4) (a) of the criminal code.

Muhammed was said to have pleaded guilty to the offence.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. J.O. Ejale adjourned the matter till October 14 for presentation of facts on the one-count charge and sentencing.
