Drama as Minister slumps while inspecting IDPs camp in Adamawa

There was a mild drama yesterday at the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs camp in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State as the Minister for Women Affairs, Aisha Jumai Alhassan, slumped during an inspection routine.

Alhassan was said to have slummed while inside the camp’s store to inspect foodstuff and other items supplied by the Federal Government.

A fight however ensued as the minister’s aides engaged journalists in a physical combat, in a bid to prevent them from taking pictures of the incident.

Recall that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal had, in June this year, led members of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, during its meeting,  to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and some of his ministers, who at that time were indisposed.

The SGF offered prayers for Alhassan popularly known as “Mama Taraba”, saying she had been down but now “recuperating from surgery in the US.”

The minister, who had before the incident addressed the IDPs, said her visit was on the directives of President Muhammadu Buhari.

She disclosed that the President had ordered an investigation into the allegations of rape and children abuse in IDPs camps in the Northeast.

The minister reassured the IDPs of government’s earlier promise to settle them at their ancestral homes.

Presenting assorted items to the displaced persons, Alhassan stated that the Federal government was working hard to rebuild the North-East which had been seriously affected by Boko Haram sect, assuring that the administration would continue to provide people-friendly projects to Nigerians.
