The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has warned oil marketers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) against engaging in unwholesome act or risk sanctions.
The DPR Head of Public Relations Unit, Abuja Zone, Mr Seidu Mohammed gave the warning on Friday in Abuja, in an interview with the News Agency of NIGERIA (NAN).
Mohammed said that the agency would not hesitate to punish any oil marketer who engaged in the acts of diversion, hoarding and manipulation of fuel pumps.
“When you manipulate the pumps, automatically you are either selling above the pump PRICE or under-dispensing by selling at what looks like the correct price.
“And this is unacceptable,” he said.
He said that DPR’s surveillance teams had been deployed around the city to check these acts of illegality.
He assured petroleum products consumers that the agency would not allow oil marketers to exploit them, saying that the DPR would ensure that oil users got value for their money at all times.
“We have constituted four teams to comb the nooks and crannies of Abuja.
`We are assuring MEMBERS of the public that we will not allow any marketer to defraud motorists.
“Our staff go out for surveillance everyday, including public holidays and weekends to make sure that marketers do really sell products to marketers according to the rule, and ensure that motorists have value for their money,” he said (NAN)
