DPR shuts two petrol stations in Ilorin for cheating motorists

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has shut two petrol stations in Ilorin for alleged under-dispensing of the product to motorists.

The DPR Operation Controller in the state, Mr Amos Jokodola, through the acting Deputy Manager, Retails Outlets, Mr Ishola Joshua, announced the closure on Sunday during inspection of filling stations in Ilorin.

The stations are: NIPCO located on Ajase-Ipo road and Success and Regards operating on New Yidi road.

They were discovered to have adjusted their meter downward, thereby cheating motorists.

Jokodola had summoned the management of both stations to appear before it and give explanation for the alleged sharp practice.

He also warned three other petrol stations in the metropolis to adhere to the rules and regulations of the department or be sanctioned.

Jokodola said that the agency would not hesitate to close down any petrol station found cheating motorists in the state.

He also warned them against selling petrol above the official price.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some independent marketers of petrol in the state are selling fuel at N100 per litre instead of the official price of N87.
