DPR seals 15 illegal filling stations, others in Kogi

Operatives of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), on Thursday, sealed over 15 filling stations in the central senatorial district of Kogi State, for allegedly operating without valid operational licence.

Also, the operative sealed Mubhan Oil and Gas, NIPCO and Wallybaj Investment all within Okene Local Government and its environ for their alleged involvement in product under dispensing.

Leading the surveillance operation, the Kogi DPR Head, Retail Outlet Monitoring and Operation, Ibrahim Mijinyawa, expressed dismay at some of the development, saying that despite efforts by the Federal Government to ensure seamless availability of petroleum products, at the official N145 per litre, some unscrupulous marketers were still bent of sabotaging such efforts.

He said that while the N100,000 fine stipulated by regulation, were to be paid before the erring outlets can be unsealed, the police will be invited to take charge in the case of the filling station that operated without valid licence.

According to him: “There is product availability now. However, the surveillance is to check against hoarding, product diversion, underdispensing, illegal operation and any other infringement against the law.”
