The Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) presidential candidate, Owolabi Olubudo, has cited the major reason why he stepped down President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said he took the decision in consideration of the noticeable achievements of the president.

In a statement he made at the weekend, Olubudo also explained that his action was inevitable following his party’s endorsement and adoption of Jonathan, which he said was in order.

Olubudo also noted that the achievements of Jonathan, through his Transformational Agenda, stood tall above other candidates.

The former candidate commended Jonathan administration for recent successes against the Boko Haram sect, improvement in the power sector and laudable infrastructural development.

Olubode added that Jonathan had been able to manage the fall-out of the unstable crude price fall and its impact on the economy, adding that things would have been worse, but for “the purpose-driven governance of Mr. President”.
