The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC), has suspended Mr Philip Koleola, its governorship candidate in Kogi over allegations of gross anti-party activities.
This is contained in a statement signed by Rev. Olusegun Peters, DPC National Chairman and issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.
The statement said the party’s NWC met on Tuesday to deliberate on a petition from its Kogi State chapter against Koleola.
“In view of the gross anti-party activities leveled against Koleola, the NWC hereby suspend Koleola indefinitely and ratifies his suspension by the Kogi State chapter of the party.
“A disciplinary committee will be set up to look into his anti-party activities during the governorship election in the state.
“The committee will also look into his purported decision to go to court with the PDP governorship candidate, Idris Wada, to challenge INEC’s directive for APC to substitute Audu,’’ the statement said.
The statement said that after reviewing the political quagmire in Kogi, the NWC resolved not to challenge INEC’s decision in court in the interest of the nation.
It added that party disowned any legal action taken by Koleola.
“As a mass movement, DPC shall at all times promote democratic ideals and ethos that will deepen and strengthen our political process,’’ it added. (NAN)
