Dora died of Endometrial Carcinoma; her last wish was safe return of Chibok girls – Mr. Akunyi

The wish of former Information Minister, late Dora Akunyili, before she passed on was the safe return of the over 200 school girls abducted by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014.
According to her husband, Dr. Chike Akunyili, Dora did not give up praying for them until she breathed her last on June 7, as she wished she could, on her own, bring the girls out of captivity.
Commenting on the last moment of the former Director General, National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Chike said that she died of Endometrial Carcinoma and not cervical cancer widely speculated as the cause of her death.
He spoke in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, while briefing reporters ahead of her burial on August 28.
Dr. Akunyili said that Endometrial Carcinoma is another type of cancer that takes no time in killing its victims.
He said the deceased also remained, till her last second, passionate about the unity of Nigeria.
”My wife said she would serve Nigeria with the last drop of her blood”, he said.
The widower further disclosed that Dora would be given a post humous award in the United States of America on November 18, 2014 for her achievements in Pharmacy.
