Donnarumma to sign new AC Milan contract “within days”

AC Milan’s General Manager, Marco Fassone, has said that Gianluigi Donnarumma, will sign a new contract with the club in a matter of days.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper turned down Milan’s offer of a new contract last month, with his current deal set to expire in 2018.

His decision drew an angry reaction from fans of the Serie A club, but he has reportedly had a change of heart.

Reports in Italy suggest he will become the third highest-paid goalkeeper in Europe, by agreeing to a deal worth €6 million-a-year plus bonuses.

“I had always said that the doors to Milan would be reopened if Gigio ever reconsidered,” Fassone told Il Corriere della Sera.

“There has been some reconsideration and I have the feeling that we are very close to an agreement with the player and his family, although I do not want to get involved in any more compromises.

“I think a decision, which will be down to the player, will arrive in one or two days.”
