Dongara, Gbajabiamila nominated as Speaker

As the eight House of Representatives takes off on Tuesday, Bauchi state-born Hon. Yakubu Dongara and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos State have been nominated as the only candidates to run for the position of Speaker.

Dongara was nominated by Hon. Abdulmuminu Jibrin from Kano State, while Dr Muhammed Sani Abdul from Bauchi nominated Gbajabiamila for the coveted position. Shuiabu Sule from Edo state seconded Gbajabiamila’s nomination.

Both nominees accepted their nominations amid cheers from colleagues in support of their bids. The House is already in the process of electing the new Speaker.
