The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Lagos State has commiserated with the victims of the fire outbreak at the popular Balogun market on Lagos Island, warning the Lagos state government against taking steps to take over of razed market.
Promising to support the victims in order to give them succor, the party called for an immediate and thorough probe into the persistent but incredible fire outbreaks at markets, especially those not in the hands of investors called Market Developers.
In a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Gani Taofik, the party chided the state governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola for choosing to go to the burnt market just to make political statements instead of telling the grieving traders specifically his immediate realisable support for them.
The party further counseled the Lagos State government to stop what it called propagandist’s governance and give true, honest progressive governance to Lagosians, at least for the last four months of its administration.
The party hinged the advice on the inability of the much touted Lagos State Fire Service to be prompt and effective at reducing fire disasters across the state, especially in the last one week.
Cautioning the governor not to take over the burnt market, the party called on Fashola to compassionately support the market men and women to continue business.
