Despite the current challenges confornting Nigeria, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State on Saturday expressed hope that all will be well with the country.
The governor gave this message of hope while speaking to newsmen at the Lagos Central Mosque, where he observed the Eid prayers.
The governor wished Nigerians a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration and admonished them to use the occasion to renew their commitment to peace and development of the nation.
He said, “I wish all Muslims Eid Mubarak and all Nigerians, peace. But whatever we want for ourselves and the nation lies in our hands to achieve.
“I am sure that all will be well and citizens must also want things to be well. If it is well within us, it will be well around us and it will be well with our nation”.
The governor said that Nigerians still had good reasons to thank God and celebrate, in spite of some of the challenges in the country.
He said that being alive to see another Eid celebration in good health should give the people some hope and opportunity to learn and better the future.
Some officials at the prayer ground with Fashola include Mr Lateef Ibirogba, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Hakeem Bello, Special Adviser on Media and Mr Lanre Babalola, Chief of Staff to the governor.
