The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has tasked its members not to compromise their professional ethics and conducts no matter the temptation.

The newly elected Chairman of ICAN, Plateau District Society, Julius Martins Kutus gave the challenge during the society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Jos.

Kutus argued that ICAN was one profession body that was contributing immensely to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy.

The Chairman, who was elected alongside other exco members, said that every government sector and organization needed an accountant to move it forward, especially as it relates to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The Chairman lamented the difficulties encountered when it comes to gaining accesss to the state government, especially at engaging ICAN members toward assisting it in boosting its IGR.

“It’s unfortunate that for quite some years now we have not been able to have access to the state government of Plateau.

“Government is expected to live above board by ensuring that a proper data base is put in place for developmental plans or goals to be achieved,’’ he noted.

Also elected include, Mr Julius Dooiyor; Vice Chairman, Bernard Alkali; General Secretary, Mrs Victoria Olusegu; Treasurer and Tile T. Assist. Gen. Secretary.

Others are: Samuel Boadeng; Financial Secretary, Nkiru Chukwumeka; Technical Secretary, Pam Musa; Social/Publicity Secretary, Gyang Pam; Past Chairman/Ex-Officio, Jugu Yohanna; Ex-Officio and E.O. Olawoye; Ex-Officio.
