Don’t beg Jordan Ibe to play for Super Eagles – Henry Nwosu

Former Nigeria international, Henry Nwosu has warned the Nigeria Football Federation, not to beg players who are originally from the country, to play for the Super Eagles.

The federation’s president, Amaju Pinnick, recently traveled to England to meet with parents of Arsenal youngsters, Chuba Akpom and Alex Iwobi, to convince them to allow their kids switch international allegiance.

Nigeria is also tracking Liverpool’s Jordan Ibe. But Nwosu insisted that Ibe who burst onto the scene this season, is not better than Kelechi Iheanacho and other talents in the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets.

“If Jordon Ibe and the others don’t feel like playing for Nigeria, good luck to them. They won’t be the first to deny Nigeria,” Nwosu told Punch.

“At the end of the day, they will regret it. If we give it a push, try to get them to play for the Super Eagles, and they are still proving stubborn, we should let them go.

“We have abundant good players in this country. To play for your country is most important. Who said Ibe is better than Kelechi Iheanacho? I don’t think so. You can’t say, until both of them are put on opposing sides and their performances are measured.”
