Dolphins will not be relegated – Eguma

Head coach of Dolphins, Stanley Eguma has expressed confidence that his team will avoid relegation, despite losing to local rivals, Sharks.

The former Nigerian champions were beaten 1-0 by the Blue Angels at the Sharks Stadium on Sunday.

Although Eguma admitted that their league position was bad, he insisted that the next set of matches will prove crucial.

“I must confess there has been pressure of late concerning the side’s position on the league log,” the former Olympic team assistant coach told supersport.com.

He added that, “Dolphins have not been in this uncomfortable position we are at the moment in recent times.

“Today (Sunday) we lost another key match on our survival list to Sharks which is a further setback.

“However, the situation is not yet a hopeless one, if we are able to pick good results in the next three, four matches the dull colour will be greatly bright.

“I make bold to say that Dolphins will maintain its Premiership status at the end of the ongoing season.

“Sharks’ clash has been fought and lost we are focusing on the next home match against FC Ifeanyiubah, it’s a key match in our calculation and we must quickly reassemble our weapons to come out top.

“Then we will take the other fixtures once at a time but it will be a straight fight till the end of the season.”

Dolphins are currently languishing in 17th place on the 20-team table, with 34 points from 31 matches.
