Dolphins have expressed their displeasure, over the League Management Company (LMC) records, which claim their player Emem Eduok is 23 years old.
The player, who scored a record-equaling 20 goals last season, was asked to leave the Nigeria Olympic team camp in Abuja, when officials found out the discrepancies on his international passport and club license.
Eduok’s passport carries January 31, 1994, while the LMC records say the striker was born in 1991.
“It baffles us that this is happening,” China Acheru, who is the media officer of Dolphins, said.
“I spoke with the player and he was very sad. How could a player who played at the U20 World Cup last year be suddenly over 23 years? It’s sad that this is happening.
“Emem is a player of Dolphins and he has only one international passport which he used to feature at last year’s U20 World Cup. So, we don’t know where the LMC got their records from.”
It is only players born after January 1, 1993, who are eligible for the U-23 team.
