Following the transparent process of election into the Green chambers of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara from Bauchi state has emerged Speaker, House of Representatives
The contest of wits thereafter began between him and Femi Gbajamiabila of the All Progressives Congress from Surulere 1 Federal constituency, whose nomination was followed by the nomination of Hon. Yakubu Dogara.
Dogara polled 182 votes as against the 174 votes polled by Gbajamiabila.
Both members are of the All Progressives Congress, but the Peoples Democratic Party members preferred Dogara to Femi in which they had earlier in the day announced their stand to support Saraki as Senate President and Dogara as Speaker, House of Representatives.
DAILY POST gathered that members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, made good their promise of supporting Dogara who is their preferred candidate because they had seen Femi Gbajamiabila as being disposed to APC national leader, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
In what was akin to circumstances that brought Saraki as Senate President, Leo Ogor of Peoples Democratic Party was being mulled to be nominated as Deputy Speaker.
