Tension has continued to unsettle residents of Abavo and Agbor communities in Delta state following the discovery of the corpse of an unidentified man in a bush path at both communities’ boundary.
It was gathered that the corpse of the man was mutilated by unknown persons suspected to be ritualists operating in the area.
While confirming the incident, the police spokesman in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said, “We are investigating the act. We found the dead body in the bush here, and vital part of the body removed, we found the corpse of the man not known to us on Thursday night when someone called the police”.
He however disclosed that the corpse has been deposited at the Agbor central hospital mortuary for further investigation.
Meanwhile, some residents of Abavo and Agbor communities, who spoke to DAILY POST on the condition of anonymity, said, “We are becoming afraid of frequently mutilated dead bodies, either found in the bush path or by the road side”.
“We call on security agents to bring to book perpetrators of the evil act. As it is now, we can’t sleep with our two eyes closed”.
Investigations revealed that no fewer than eight unidentified corpses have in the past three weeks been found in Asaba, Ibusa Junction and Okpanam with their bodies mutilated by suspected ritualists.
