Dikko explains why LMC donated N10m to NWFL

Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC), Shehu Dikko, has explained that the N10million given to the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL), will ensure the smooth running of the second half of the season.

The NWFL suffered some setbacks recently and some of the clubs could not meet up with the rules and missed three consecutive matches, which led to their expulsion.

However, the LMC has made it possible for the clubs to be restored back to the league and play their rescheduled fixtures.

“The N10 million is part of solidarity payment from LMC to other Leagues in line with international best practices, to ensure the stability and development of lower Leagues,” Dikko told NFF Media

“The Nigeria National League (NNL) and the Nationwide League One (NLO), and indeed the Players Union, have severally benefitted from the solidarity payment from the LMC to boost their activities and ensure stability within the football structure”, he added.

Reacting to the gesture, the chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee of the NWFL, Alhaji Babagana Kalli said that the LMC’s effort was worthy of commendation.

“This gesture is praiseworthy and should be applauded by all football stakeholders.

“It is the reason we have been able to resume the second round of the season and reschedule all matches that were not played for one reason or the other,” he said.
