Mr Henry Dickson
Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, on Friday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on their successful inauguration last week, wishing them success as they pilot the affairs of the country in the next four years.
Handing this felicitation in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, in Yenagoa, Dickson assured the newly sworn-in president and his vice of the support and active collaboration of the government and people of the state in the interest of the nation.
The statement reads in part, “The Government of Bayelsa State wishes President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo a successful tenure as President and Vice President of our great nation, Nigeria.
“As a government, we appreciate the fact that only a man with a firm vision and love for his country could undertake such a long journey, notwithstanding the rigours of preceding unsuccessful attempts.
“ Your doggedness and uncompromising posture of always standing for what is right, just, equitable and fair, will no doubt, serve as key drivers in your administration’s quest to deliver on the various lofty electoral promises.
“It is against this backdrop that we wish both you and your able vice, good health, vigour and the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the nation in the next four years.
“In the same vein, we also join millions of Nigerians and the international community in commending and applauding the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan for a smooth transition”.
Governor Dickson noted that Jonathan had left behind a legacy that guarantees the sustenance of democracy, as well as the stability of the country.
He pledged that the state government would work closely with the Buhari administration and rally support for him, so the people can remain committed to the unity, stability and prosperity of Nigeria.
He held that by the tested antecedents of President Buhari, he would build on what his predecessors achieved in terms of promoting peaceful coexistence and even development.
Dickson noted that his people of the state were encouraged by the president’s pronouncement at his inauguration that he belonged to everybody and belonged to nobody. He described the statement as an indication that the president would be fair to all sections of the country.
