Abou Diaby and Marseille have reached an agreement, which will see the former Auxerre player return to France.
The 29-year-old was released by Arsenal this summer, after his contract expired following an injury-ridden nine years in North London.
Diaby looked like joining Premier League side West Brom, but the midfielder opted to join the Ligue 1 side.
A statement on the club’s website said: “Olympique de Marseille and Abou Diaby reached an agreement in principle on Tuesday.”
He is reported to have signed a pay-as-you-play deal, based on his injury record, which has seen him play just two games in the past seasons.
