Diabetic Patients’ Association of Nigeria, Kano branch, has warned all Muslim diabetic patients to control their feeding habit during the period of the Ramadan fasting to avoid health crisis.
Chairman of the Association, Prof. Musa Borodo, gave this advice during the sensitization lecture of the association for diabetic patients in Kano.
He also disclosed that about 2 million citizens were living with diabetics in the country and that most patients were people with the history of diabetics in their family.
Borodo further advised Muslim diabetic patients to ensure that they regulate their meals and medications during the fasting period in order to attain a successful fasting, free from crisis.
The Chief Speaker at the event, Dr Muhammed Ibrahim said about a total of 300 million people were afflicted by the disease, worldwide.
He added that there is high possibility that the figure would multiply in the next 20 years.
Ibrahim said that the ailment was common in developing countries where nutrition is highly unregulated.
