Brazil midfielder, Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos, is expected to complete his move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Manchester United this week.
Fred has reportedly passed a medical and agreed terms on a move to Old Trafford on Monday.
He has agreed a four-year contract, with the option of an additional 12 months to keep him at Old Trafford, until at least the summer of 2022.
Fred, who will be heading to the 2018 World Cup with Brazil, is expected to sign a deal worth an initial £85,000 a week.
He will cost the club £52million.
The Manchester Evening News reports Fred is likely to choose from three possible shirt numbers at Old Trafford, with the vacant Nos 10 and 16 the two most likely options.
