Liverpool have turned down a third bid for Philippe Coutinho and told Barcelona not to come back.
MirrorSport has now revealed the details of the latest offer, which came with a headline figure of £119 million.
The true fee is a guaranteed £80m, with a string of improbable targets triggering further payments.
These ‘never-never payments’ would include Coutinho:
1. Winning multiple trophies in the same season 2. Winning multiple Champions League titles 3. Winning the Ballon d’Or as the world’s best player 4. Winning multiple trophies and the Ballon D’Or in the same season 5. Payment of the basic £80m fee staggered over five years
Despite receiving £200m in cash from PSG for Neymar in one single payment, Barcelona don’t appear to have the funds to make up-front bids for both Coutinho and their other main summer target, Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele.
