Contrary to insinuations that he is not popular among his people, especially his kinsmen, the Minister of Communications, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Shittu, has on Saturday delivered his polling unit for President Muhammadu Buhari and other candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the yesterday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Shittu, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly who hails from Saki in Oke Ogun geo-political zone of the sate, is being alleged to be unpopular among his people, especially his kinsmen in Saki town where he hails from and particularly his kinsmen in his polling unit.
But, the result of the elections in Unit 20, Ward 2, Cornerstone Secondary School, Kòòmì Road, Sakí, Sakí West Local Government Area where Shittu voted obtained by DAILY POST Sunday morning indicated that the Minister who has been in the race to become Governor of the state since 2011 delivered his polling unit for APC leaving a wide margin for other political parties.
Shittu in the official results released by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), floored candidates of other political parties in his polling unit.
For Presidential election, Shittu secured a total of 302 votes for APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari while the PDP candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar got 93 votes in Shittu’s unit.
In the Oyo North Senatorial district election results released, the APC candidate got 220 while PDP candidate got 117.
In the House of Representatives, the APC candidate got 188 to defeat PDP candidate who got 153.
